A minute of silence will be observed in tribute to Jacques Chirac Monday, September 30, 3pm, at the French Consulate in New York. It is open to all.
A collection of condolences will also be made available to visitors from 9am to 6pm that day. The consulate states that it is also possible to leave a message online.
The former president died Thursday, September 26 at the age of 86 years. This Monday was declared "national day of mourning" in France. This is the eighth time that such a day of mourning has occurred in the history of the Fifth Republic.
