XIXth century Paris at the McNay Museum

The McNay Museum in San Antonio seized the sad occasion of the Notre Dame fire to take 30 works celebrating Paris out of its collections for this unique exhibition.

This retrospective notably presents lithographs by Henri Rivière, presenting views of Paris from the heights of Notre Dame. In particular, we see the Viollet-le-Duc spire, destroyed during the fire last spring.

The exhibition is presented in two parts: on the one hand, the universal exhibition and its buildings such as the Eiffel Tower shown in every detail or the Trocadéro as a modern work unanimously contested at the time. On the other, the Parisian landscapes that evoke a stroll where we discover the Place de l'Etoile in the guise of a flower that opens or the Pont Neuf and its famous lampposts. A little pleasure not to be missed.
