It was a network of bribes for which several drivers obtained licenses without passing the mandatory exams in Los Angeles

The owner of a school bus was sentenced to more than three years in prison for committing bribery at Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), was reported last week in the city of The Angels. It was about a fraud scheme whereby several trailer drivers they got licenses without passing the mandatory exams.

Jagpal "Paul" Singh, 61 years old, was condemned for committing bribery, identity fraud and for paying two DMV employees to change the results of different license applicants, according to federal court records.

Singh, owner of a school bus in North hollywood, paid the two DMV employees thousands of dollars between September 2014 and June 2017. The exams were altered to favor drivers of cargo vehicles and transport, of 26,001 pounds, that need a Class A license. In some cases, drivers did not even take the exams.

Lisa Terraciano, a DMV employee, was also sentenced to more than three years in prison.
