Accused of murder of mother of 2-year-old girl who died after being abandoned in the car

After being arrested earlier this week, charges were filed against the mother of the girl who died after being abandoned inside a vehicle, while she was drinking alcohol with a friend, prosecutors announced Friday.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Lacey Mazzarella, 34, She was formally charged with murder and child neglect that resulted in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, June Love August.

On the morning of September 23, the authorities responded to a call from a "baby who does not breathe." Upon arriving at the scene, Paramedics found little June Love inside the vehicle, motionless and unconscious. Mazzarella told investigators that he put his daughter inside the parked car around 11:30 last night. He left the heating of the vehicle on and put a blanket over the girl so she wouldn't get cold, according to the coroner's report.

The defendant told authorities that He went to a nearby vehicle where he drank alcohol with a friend and finally fell asleep, says the report.

When she woke up at 5 in the morning, Mazzarella went to check her daughter and discovered that the girl was not responding. He took her out of the vehicle and laid her down in a garden, where he began to spray her with a hose in an effort to lower her temperature. Then, the 911 call was made. She was transferred to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. The coroner's office is waiting for the results of other tests.

Mazzarella has a History of drug abuse. Six years ago he lost custody of an older son due to negligence. She has also been arrested for drug possession.

The 34-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday, nine days after the death of her 2-year-old daughter. She is being held and bail is $ 1 million, but prosecutors requested that it be set at $ 1.5 million.

If convicted, He faces a sentence of between 15 years in life imprisonment.
