A shooting in Rialto leaves a teenager dead and two injured

A 16-year-old boy was found dead and two others were injured after an altercation between teenagers that caused a shooting on Wednesday in Rialto, in San Bernardino County, authorities said.

A group of teenagers was in an argument that escalated to several shots in the 200 block of East Randall Avenue, the Rialto Police Department said.

Witnesses told police that 10-15 bullets were fired during the altercation, according to captain Anthony Vega of the department.

One of those who was shot was a teenager and is expected to survive, authorities said.

A female spectator was also shot and is expected to survive, according to police.

The teenager who was shot deadly has only been identified as a 16-year-old African-American male from Rialto.

The gunman, who has not yet been captured, was described to the police as a light-skinned African-American teenager or a Hispanic teenager, last seen wearing a red sweater. The weapon was not recovered at the scene, according to police.

The residence where the shooting occurred was not the victim's residence, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing and no more information is available immediately.
