Despite taking preventive measures closing his flower shop in early March, when he saw that the coronavirus pandemic was a serious problem, Mireya Pérez Gonzalez, contracted the disease.
The woman of Mexican origin and 32 years of age began presenting symptoms at the end of March and attended the Orange County ICU Medical Center. Upon arrival she was hospitalized for her severe symptoms and the next day they confirmed her diagnosis.
Since Mireya learned of her condition and being hospitalized, decided to shoot farewell videos for his family as suffers from diabetes, a health condition that increases the risk of complications of respiratory disease.
Mireya has three daughters and they are her main concern. "They are my motivation, my life. They are small and they need me"He declared to L.A. Times.
"I wrote a letter to about 25 people telling them what I was sufferingHowever, Mireya said it was a difficult decision because many people, especially Latinos, do not know how to face the diagnosis for fear of what they will say or criticism.
Mireya related to L.A. Times what he said in the videos. In one of them she asked her husband and brother to take care of their daughters. In another, addressed to his three little ones, he told them that her father would take care of them and that no matter what will happen to her, she would always be with them.
Perez Gonzalez only told his oldest daughter (14) that she had the disease, her daughter, according to the newspaper, told her: "Mommy if you die, I want to die with you"
Mireya is currently isolated at home after being hospitalized twice, "I am afraid of infecting them, but we are doing everything possible so that does not happenHe added.
The young woman hopes that there is no need for her daughters to view the recordings.
