The businesses considered essential and that in the city of The Angels continue to operate amid the crisis by the coronavirus, such as supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies and restaurants with only takeaway service, began this Friday to reject any customer who does not wear protective face mask.

The measure obeys the Worker Protection Order issued by the mayor Eric Garcetti that from April 10th establishes the use of a mask or face mask when they have to leave the house out of necessity.

The use of a mask is also required to board public transportation or private taxis, in addition to asking to maintain a distance of 6 feet (approximately two meters) with other people.

  • The order, in addition to trying to curb the spread of the coronavirus, seeks to further protect workers and customers in establishments that remain open.

"Our idea is not to arrest or fine people who do not use it," said Mayor Garceti. "This is more than cooperation."

Businesses are also obliged to increase sanitary measures in their establishments, prevent crowds, put plexiglass barriers on boxes, have their employees wear a mask and avoid unnecessary contacts.
