The authorities arrested Ellsworth Kadle, 67, on Friday night, in relation to a man who was found shot dead inside a vehicle parked in a storage facility in Moorpark.

Police said they were able to track Kadle's vehicle and detained him near Moorpark College without incident after stopping his vehicle at 11:15 p.m.

The initial call for shots arrived at the Ventura County Sheriff's Office around 2:20 p.m., according to the agency's statement.

When a sheriff's helicopter arrived on the scene, agents inside concentrated on a U-Haul truck, where investigators said they found a 60-year-old man killed by at least one gunshot wound. The sheriffs believe that the suspect could have had a personal relationship with the victim.

"This is a rare thing here in Moorpark to see the helicopters circling and the police popping up," Brian Lawrence, a resident, told CBS 2.

Right at the end of the street, at the Waterstone at Moorpark apartment complex, the agents had an apartment surrounded, which is believed to be the suspect's home, while waiting for a search warrant.

“I talked to the neighbors down here,” said Eli Bercerra, a resident of the apartment complex, to CBS 2. “They told me that nobody could enter.”

For hours, residents were kept out of their homes on Friday.

The bailiffs said that some kind of dispute between the two men led to the fatal shooting, although the relationship between the suspect and the victim was not revealed.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Cadle was held in the Ventura County Jail for murder. His bond was set at $ 3 million.
