More than a year and a half after the launch of Essteem, Hugues Seureau and Sylvain Dechartre, the two co-founders of the network to support the recruitment of women, make the sad observation that in terms of inclusion in companies, it there is little concrete.

This is where the first "Equalithon" was born: a hackathon (born from the terms "hack" and "marathon" to designate competitions for developers) remotely on the theme of gender equality. It will be held from Tuesday, July 16 to Wednesday, August 21.

The principle: teams of up to five participants will spend four weeks on Essteem's "challenges". "For example, it is suggested to participants to find solutions to break the glass ceiling with a" reverse mentoring "application (this process which consists of inverting the roles between the traditional mentor and the trained person, editor's note)"says Hugues Seureau, who also quotes a draft application to denounce cases of sexual harassment at work. "All this in open sourcesays the co-founder of Essteem. The goal is to encourage the creation of resources and tools that may be useful in the future. "he insists.

These challenges will be unveiled at an opening ceremony on Tuesday, July 16th, organized at Nasdaq's New York headquarters, partner of the event. Free and open registrations for all (even if Essteem says naturally "Give the property to women") are accessible until Thursday, June 25, specify the organizers.

The competition which will welcome 150 participants maximum is addressed to two types of candidates: the developers.es (130 places) but also to the profiles "Out of tech" (20 places) to address issues such as legality issues, recruitment or sociology.

If the marathon itself will be fully online (even the mentors' follow-up will take place via the Slack platform, says Hugues Seureau), a closing ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21 to allow participants to present the results of their work. "We do not wait for a successful product but still a few pieces of code and a video presentation if possible", says Hugues Seureau.

In addition to the possibility of meeting potential recruiters, candidates will be able to receive prizes. "Two teams will receive a prize of $ 1,000 and there will be other awards"adds the entrepreneur, who says that 5% of the proceeds from the event will go to women's support associations.
