Two companies are using the name and image of the well-known actor and film director to commercially promote their products without his consent.

Clint eastwood filed last Wednesday two lawsuits in the courts of Los Angeles California against companies that market products derived from marijuana and use their image without consent to promote them.
The lawsuit mentions a number of products such as oils, sweets and edibles made with cannabidiol (CBD), a component of marijuana whose use is legal and that unlike THC – its other major substance – does not produce the psychoactive effects of the drug.
One of the complaints cites a bogus news article claiming that the actor and filmmaker, who recently turned 90, is “moving away from the media spotlight” to spend more time on his CBD products.
“Mr. Eastwood does not have, and has never had, any association with the manufacture, promotion or sale of any CBD product.“Affirms the complaint.
Claimed damages include defamation, trademark infringement, false advertising and fraudulent use of your image for advertising purposes.
The second complaint is directed against a group of businesses in this sector that have included the name of Eastwood in the metadata of their web pages so that a search for the actor includes among the results the digital stores that sell these goods.
Eastwood representatives stated that the actor is not against these products but avoids publicly supporting them.
“Eastwood does not express a point of view on CBD products or its legitimate CBD industry“His team told Variety magazine.
