After a long investigation, Kristin Lynn Boyle was arrested because he was accused of having sex with a student in one of the school's classrooms where he works, located in La Habra, California.
According to the Orange County Prosecutor's Office, the abuse by women occurred on the school premises in April 2018. Boyle was formally arrested on September 20.
"Mental health professionals exert a great influence on their patients," Orange County prosecutor Todd Spitzer said in a statement. "This betrayal of trust is even more atrocious because he used his position to approach the victim and then broke the therapist / patient relationship to take advantage of one of the same students who blindly trusted her".
Boyle, who worked at La Habra High at the time of the incident, was suspended while the investigation was being conducted. If found guilty, the woman would face spending up to three years in prison.
The authorities are also investigating whether there are more victims in this case.
