"I do not like talking too much. For me, dance can say a thousand things without saying a word. Falling in the dance when she was little, Sarah Toumani lives today her American dream in New York. At 24, she participates the project "The Table of Silence", a spectacular dance performance to be held on September 11 at the Lincoln Center Square as a tribute to the victims of the attacks.

From classical dance to 4 years to contemporary dance during her adolescence, modern jazz and hip-hop in New York, Sarah Toumani has given in many styles. During an internship, she makes a meeting that will lead to her American adventure: Solomon Dumas, who is a dancer at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the largest modern dance company in the world. He encourages her to enroll in the company's school.

Sarah Toumani is preparing the auditions for a year. "I thought I had to go to this school, I did not know how, it was expensive, but that's what I wanted to do", she recalls. Three weeks after the hearing, she receives a positive answer: "It was April 3, 2015, I'll always remember it. My parents cried a lot, but they were happy for me. "

At just 20, the young woman from the Montpellier region moved to New York. "There are so many opportunities, meetings to do, events on the dance. I feel that it is more open than in France, that we have more chance, she says. We must make his place. When there is an audition and you are 100, you have to know how to be yourself, do not be afraid and give everything ". Thanks to her determination, in 2017, Sarah Toumani managed to reach the final of the New York's Got Talent competition.

She founds her own company: Sarah Toumani Dance Company. With her hip-hop dancers, who became her friends, she is invited to dance in Pennsylvania and Brooklyn Ballet School of Dance.

His next project, "The Table of Silence", "is a ceremony for peace and unity that lasts nine minutes ". The dancers dressed in white will be accompanied by drums. "It's quite slow and taking". Too young in 2001 to remember the tragedy, the dancer nevertheless remembers a television report broadcast a few years later. "It touched me because I'm Muslim and these terrorists proclaimed Allah, she says. It's important for me to do this performance. "
