One person died in the mass saddleridge fire, in Sylmar, authorities said.
The man, who was a civilian, suffered a cardiac pair and died, said Los Angeles fire chief Ralhp Terrazas.
The teams tried to save his life, but the victim eventually died in the hospital, according to the Fire Department.
A firefighter suffered a minor eye injury and was hospitalizedsaid Terrazas.
The fire has burned 4,700 hectares and it was contained at 0% until Friday. At least 45 houses have been damaged, according to the Fire Department.
It has been requested residents of almost 13,000 homes that evacuate the area.
"If they don't evacuate, we can't guarantee their safety," Los Angeles police chief Michel Moore said Friday.
More than 1,000 firefighters have been deployed in the fire.
Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
