French short films in the limelight of the Los Angeles American Cinematheque

Accustomed to pay tribute to the work of the pioneers of French cinema, such as Agnès Varda, Jean-Pierre Jeunet or Jean-Pierre Melville, the American Cinematheque of Los Angeles has decided to put emerging filmmakers in the limelight. Organized by the cultural services of the French Embassy in the United States and UniFrance, Young French Cinema Shorts will take place on Thursday, December 12 at 7:30 pm at the Egyptian Theater. The program includes a selection of short films awarded at major festivals in 2018.

The evening will begin with the screening of the film "Les Grâcieuses" ("The Villa"), directed by Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud, which tells a real estate transaction that will be disrupted. Then, "Pauline Enservie" ("Pauline Enslaved") of Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet, will reveal to the public the love obsession of Pauline, who stays in the countryside, desperately waiting for a message from her lover. This short film will be followed by "Les Indes Galantes" ("The Amorous Indies") directed by Clément Cogitore. He is filming a performance of Krumping, a dance created in Los Angeles after the 1995 riots.

Boris Labbé's "The Fall" ("The Fall"), an animated short film, takes you into a world where the inhabitants of the sky try to corrupt humans, plunging the world into chaos. Finally, "La Persistente", directed by Camille Lugan, will immerse you in the heart of a seaside resort in the Pyrenees, to follow the special relationship that Ivan has with his bike, La Persistente, until he is stolen .
