The authorities are looking for an assault suspect who escaped after a chase ended in Northridge and an officer was injured in a nearby accident, but it is unknown if the two incidents are related.

Around 1:25 p.m., the California Highway Patrol began a chase with a man wanted to assault one of his officers. The driver got out of the vehicle he was driving and ran into an apartment complex along the 9400 block of Baird Road in Northridge, north of Los Angeles.

Authorities were still searching for the suspect at 3 p.m.

Short distance, a California Highway Patrol officer was injured in an accident in Granada Hills and was on the road near the intersection of Lindley Avenue and Devonshire Street.

The officer's motorcycle seemed to be extremely damaged while the officer was being serviced on the ground. Then, The officer was transported by ambulance to a hospital.

The authorities have not said if the accident was the result of the suspect's escape. Highway Patrol officials also did not explain the original assault.

Los Angeles police and fire departments responded to the scene of the accident in Granada Hills.
