It's the summer of diplomatic arrivals in Washington. After the appointment of Philippe Etienne to the French Embassy in replacement of Gérard Araud, moved to New York, the federal capital welcomes a new Consul General of France: François Penguilly. His appointment was formalized in the Official Journal (OJ) dated 25 June.

François Penguilly, first counselor to theFrench Embassy in the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi, replacing Michel Charbonnier, who had been in office since 2015. Mr. Penguilly was also deputy consul at the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem.

The Consulate of France in Washington is responsible for the District of Columbia as well as for the states of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
