2-year-old baby dies in Torrance after being left in the car for more than 5 hours while her mother drank alcohol with a friend

The local authorities are investigating the death of a two-year-old girl who was left alone in a car with the heater on and the windows closed. The little girl was locked in the vehicle for more than five hours while her mother drank with a friend, according to the records.

June Love Augusto died in a hospital on September 23 after being found unconscious inside his mother's vehicle, during the early hours of that day, according to a report issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Forensic Medicine. Although the autopsy was already performed, his cause of death has not yet been determined. The result of other tests is expected to determine the cause of the baby's death.

Initially, the mother had said that she had left her little daughter alone in the car for a few minutes while knocking on a babysitter's door. Then, he ended up admitting that this was not the case, according to the coroner's report.

The girl's mother told investigators that she had left her daughter alone in the car around 11:30 p.m. on September 21. Then, he got into another vehicle that was nearby and was drinking alcohol with a friend. The woman said she turned on the heating and put a blanket over her daughter so she wouldn't get cold.

According to the report, the woman said she fell asleep and woke up at approximately 5 in the morning. He checked his daughter and saw that he was unconscious in the car seat.

“There was vomit on his shirt and on the seat. I had the skin of my back detached ”says the report. “The mother placed it in the grass and sprinkled it with cold water using a hose. The deceased was taken to a house and the 911 call was made. ”

Paramedics took the girl to a hospital, but were not able to save hersaid the authorities. Paramedics noticed burns on the baby's face, chest and arms. When the little girl arrived at the hospital, her temperature was 41 degrees.

Investigators They discovered that the mother has a history of drug abuse and that six years ago she lost custody of another child through negligence. The boy was taken by the authorities during a drug raid in which the mother and a man were arrested on suspicion of owning cocaine for sale, operating a drug factory and for injuring a minor in Connecticut.

According to Los Angeles County records, the mother has not yet been arrested.
