"Olivia", lesbianism according to Jacqueline Audry in Austin

"Olivia", a 1951 French film, will be screened on Wednesday, October 16th at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in partnership with the Alliance française d'Austin. Signed Jacqueline Audry, it is considered one of the first movies about female homosexuality, at a time when the attraction for same-sex people was perceived as a deviance.

It tells the story of a student, Olivia, who will upset another young woman from the institution for girls where she stays, Miss Julie, played by Edwige Feuillère. Other stories of love and intrigue will be formed within this institution. It should be noted that Philippe Noiret plays the only male role in this film.
