Like the rest of the country, Washington celebrates "Independence Day" on Thursday, July 4th. Parades, concert, fireworks … French Morning gives you the program to celebrate with dignity the 143rd anniversary of the birth of the United States.

Between 11am and 2.45pm, the famous Constitution Avenue hosts the National Independence Day Parade, between 7th Street and 17th Street. Famous for its impressive military parade, its many colorful floats and its dancers, the parade marks the beginning of the festivities. For baseball fans, the Washington Nationals play each year in honor of Independence Day at National Parks at 11am (Tickets on sale from $ 16).

"Salute to America" ​​and Donald Trump's speech

Starting at 3.30pm, visit the National Mall which opens its doors to the public. The US capital is shaking up its usual schedule: this year, US President Donald Trump delivers a speech about an hour on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. An event added to the program, named "Salute to America". As a result, the steps and the entire Lincoln Memorial will be closed to the public. However, the reflective pool and the entire National Mall will remain open.

Directly inspired by the military parade of July 14 in Paris, "Salute to America" will be accompanied by music and a military band. It's also an opportunity to admire the Blue Angels, the acrobatic patrol of the US Navy. Donald Trump's speech is expected between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. The traditional fireworks will be shot from West Potomac Park

Between 8pm and 9.30pm, the traditional music concert is held in West Lawn, near the Capitol. A Capitol Fourth is celebrating its 39th edition this year and welcomes renowned artists such as Carole King and Vanessa Carlton. The National Symphony Orchestra will open the concert.

To end the evening in style, the fireworks will be shot from West Potomac Park very precisely at 9.07pm, until 9.27pm. You can admire the National Mall fireworks, Arlington Cemetery, on a rooftop, or why not on the Potomac River.
