For the third time in a week Los Angeles reports more than 2,000 new cases of coronavirus in one day

The authorities of the Los Angeles Department of Public Health shared updated data from the coronavirus pandemic in the county and highlighted that it is the third time in a week that they report more than 2,000 new cases in one day.

Only today were they confirmed 2,571 new positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 85,942 infections in the county. The authorities also confirmed 18 more deaths related to the disease that has claimed the lives of 3,137 Los Angeles residents.

"Today marks the third day in a week in which we reported more than 2,000 new cases" said Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the Department of Public Health.

"Although many cases are due to a laboratory delay, it is clear that contagion represents a greater increase in transmission in the community."Ferrer added, referring to the fact that there are now many more people on the streets.

"Continuing to prevent the spread of the virus will not be possible if we do not all commit to following the protocols"He assured.

Currently there 1,453 people being treated and hospitalized at county health centers. The 19% of them would be in intensive care.

The authorities have assured that the capacity to carry out tests has increased now that the county's economy is reopening and that to date they have been carried out. more than 960,000 tests detection COVID-19.
