A woman without a mask demanded immigration documents from a Southern California gardener who has worked in the area for a decade

A woman at Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs and about 125 miles east of Los Angeles, approached a gardener at his apartment complex and said: “Show me your papers.”
The gardener, Juan Andrade, told NBC Palm Springs that it is not the first time that the woman harasses him, but this time he decided to film it.
“Like any other complex, I was just doing the job for all of them, mowing the lawn. I stopped by her apartment and when I turned around to do the second round it was when I saw her standing, ”Andrade said.
In the video, the woman can be seen blowing a kiss to Andrade before walking and standing directly in front of him.
“Can you move? I’m doing my job, “says Andrade. “Can you stay away? You are too close to me right now and you are not wearing a mask. “
“Show me your papers,” says the woman. “I want to see your papers.”
Andrade said the same woman previously told him to “go back to his country.” ‘He reported the incident to his employer and plans to avoid the area.
“When she was harassing me, I started to get mad because I was doing my job,” Andrade said. “From what I’ve seen of her, I think she thinks she did nothing wrong. She believes she is correct, so I don’t think she will ever apologize. “

Paulinich also shared a quote from an immigration attorney who told NBC Palm Springs: “Unless I am a law enforcement officer, but other than that, they are using that conversation as another way to intimidate and create objects of human beings. that seem to be different from them. “
