From 8:00 am on Monday the Emergency Rental Assistance Subsidy Program will begin to receive applications

On June 23 the Los Angeles City Council voted in favor of create a program that will help some 50,000 families in the city pay part of the rent on the house, the proposal was presented by the councilor Nury Martinez and endorsed by the mayor Eric Garcetti.

The program Emergency Rental Assistance Subsidy Program will start receiving financial aid applications from next July 13.
According to information released, the program has more than $ 100 million dollars and the Los Angeles Department of Housing and Community Investment will be in charge of executing it.
Is that how it works
The subsidy will be $ 1,000 per month to cover the rent payment based on the last payment made in March and up to $ 2,000 per family. Aid will be paid directly to the tenant and not to the tenant.
The program Emergency Rental Assistance Subsidy Program established the following eligibility criteria:
Assistance will be provided to families or individuals who have not been able to pay the rent due to circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic, who live in multi-family buildings and that:

- Families they can provide proof of lease
- Families whose income is 80% or less of the area median income before the start of the pandemic.
That is to say, if there is only one person in the household, the income must be a maximum of $ 58,450 a year; if they are two people maximum $ 66,800; 3 people maximum $ 75,159; 4 people maximum $ 83,500; 5 maximum $ 90,200.
What is having been affected by COVID-19?
- Loss of employment due to the closing or reduction of hours.
- Loss of income or increased cost of daycare due to school closings
- Medical expenses of you or a member of the household derived from having been infected with coronavirus
- Loss of revenue from government emergency orders taken after March 13, 2020

How and where to request it?
Tenants who meet this criteria must submit an online request at hcidla.lacity.org from 8:00 a.m. July 13 to July 17 at 11:59 p.m..
The people that do not have access to a computer, they should call 844-9441868.
Who will be benefited?
Once the application period established by the Los Angeles Department of Housing and Community Investment culminate the requests will be randomly selected.
