Anaheim Police conduct investigations to determine the identity of the thief and now murderer

A Hispanic male resident of Anaheim he lost his life last Tuesday when trying to arrest a subject who was stealing his car, as reported by local authorities in the city of Orange County.

José de Jesús Berrelleza, 33 years old, saw a person forcing his car and getting into it when he decided to run to stop it around 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday. The events occurred in the 100 S block of Melinda Circle.

According to information from the Anaheim Police Department, Berrelleza was able to reach and confront the man but when he tried to get into the van, the thief started, ran him over and killed him.

The situation due to the economic crisis has unleashed crime and car theft has had a significant increase in southern California since the pandemic began, according to previously released information.
