Economist and professor of finance at NYU, Thomas Philippon made a name for himself on both sides of the Atlantic at the end of last year with the release of his book “The Great Reversal: How America Gave Up on Free Markets ”. He described there the drift of American capitalism where liberalism is increasingly giving way to a series of gigantic oligopolies.
Since then, the COVID-19 crisis has only strengthened his convictions. The very large number of small and medium-sized enterprises victims of the crisis risks further accelerating oligopolistic tendencies and the domination of mega-enterprises.
Thomas Philippon is the guest, Monday, May 18, 12 p.m. EST from the “Conferences 934” series, organized by the French Consulate General in New York. He will be interviewed by New York Times reporter Neil Irwin.
Seating for the conference is limited, register early here.
