Theater in French in Santa Monica on April 30 with the Alliance Française in Los Angeles

(Partner agenda) A poignant, upsetting (true) story but a text full of humor. A single one-hour and fifteen-minute scene in French, with English subtitles, is what awaits you on April 30, at 7:30 p.m., at the Edgemar Center for Arts in Santa Monica.

“Où on va, papa?”, The book by Jean-Louis Fournier (Prix Fémina 2008), is a text of love from a father to his two sons “unlike any other”: a beautiful lesson in life, without melodrama or pathos, to continue not to be serious. "Where are we going, Dad?" is a reverse fairy tale. Where we walk in quicksand. Where the birds are dizzy. Where you never win the most beautiful baby contest. Where you’re born hunched over and you die straight. Where dads drive big American cars and keep their eyes closed for as long as possible. Where we are inconsolable and cheerful. Where you are not serious and you do not take anything seriously. Where the situation is serious but never totally hopeless.

This piece, adapted and interpreted by Xavier Carrar and directed by Layla Metssitane, will be presented to the Californian public in a unique performance in Los Angeles on April 30 thanks to the support of the Alliance Française de Los Angeles, Air Tahiti Nui and in partnership with Los Angeles Accueil. A wine and cheese reception will be offered before the start of the performance, and a question and answer period is scheduled at the end of the performance.
