The Mt. Wilson Observatory is out of danger but the Bobcat Fire remains out of control

After the fire was just 500 feet from the Mt. Wilson observatory facility, the firefighters did a great job keeping the fire at bay and the structure is out of harm’s way.

Assisted by a defense space at the Mt. Wilson observatory, firefighters installed a barrier using a tractor and discharged water creating a point of protection for the facilities.”States a message from Angeles National Forest on Twitter.

The fire has burned 44,393 acres and only 3% contained.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said today at a press conference that “the Bobcat Fire was getting a lot of attention for obvious reasons being an aggressive fire and in challenging and difficult conditions”.

He also assured that they would send more resources to fight it now that they have made much progress by extinguishing other fires in the state.

The fires in the state have burned this 2020 more than 3.4 million acres in more than 7,800 fires and the worst part of the season is still ahead. The state has used 17,000 firefighters to fight the fire.
