Tuesday afternoon city authorities of Long Beach, California unanimously approved the initiative "Open streets", Which seeks transform public outdoor spaces to accommodate tables and provide spaces to citizens in addition to complying with social distancing.
The initiative was promoted by the mayor of the city, Robert Garcia. "Our open streets initiative was accepted by the City Council. Now is the time to implement and give relief to small businesses and pedestrians”, Stated the mayor in a tweet.

The approved initiative seeks to convert public parking lots and sidewalks at table places, also street closure could give residents more space for outdoor activities and maintain the social distance recommended by the health authorities.
