The education calendar for the fall term in the Los Angeles Unified District has a reduction of academic hours from 8 to 6 daily

Dozens of parents from various cities throughout Los Angeles County have come together to sue the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) because they believe that did not consider economic inequalities in distance education.
The complaint that was presented last Thursday, ensures that the Latino students and low-income African Americans, as well as those who do not speak native English and those with learning difficulties, have been affected by the distance education model.
In addition, the plaintiffs claim that the reduction of academic hours from 8 to 6 hours a day, gives children less access to teachers and live learnings.
On the other hand, they emphasize the challenges that it can mean for the parents of children to get involved in the educational model since they do not have the tools or the necessary access to do so.
“Many of these parents have never been in an environment in which they had to take their children’s education into their own hands. They need training, support and resources”, Assured from the Palace of Justice the lawyer Elizabeth Sierra, according to information released by Univision.
For its part, the LADS has said that society faces many challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic and that education has also been affected, however, they have implemented various aid programs to provide internet connection and digital equipment to thousands of children in the county.
