A cold storm in the Gulf of Alaska will generate rains in southern California and snow in the mountains before clearing on Saturday night, reports the National Meteorological Service (NWS).

The storm occurred about 500 miles west over the Pacific Ocean on Friday morning and is expected to slide into southern California from Friday night to Saturday.

Along with the rains at night, the storm is expected to produce 1-3 inches of snow in the San Gabriel Mountains at around 5,000 feet, well above The Grapevine, which means that no major impacts are expected. on the Interstate 5 corridor.

At sea level, between a tenth and a quarter inch of rain are expected, while in the mountains, the storm could generate between a quarter and a half inch of rain.
