More than 16,400 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Los Angeles

At the press conference to update the coronavirus, the authorities of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 66 new deaths and 1,318 new cases.

The county accumulates a total of 16,435 infected people, 729 dead and 1,791 hospitalized currently.

The Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the department stated that more than 90,000 COVID-19 screening tests have been performed in the county. 15% of them have been positive.

Earlier the first death from the disease in the United States was confirmed weeks earlier than originally thought and it happened in California and not in Washington as believed.

The los angeles county keeps its beaches, parks and trails closed to the public even when neighboring counties golf courses, a ski resort and even some beaches are opening.
