Los Angeles County Supports Lawsuits to Protect Refugees and Immigrant Students

The Angels it is a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants and under that same premise the County Board of Supervisors voted last Tuesday to support some demands opposing the administration's measures Donald trump.

The Board of Supervisors considers that it is essential to support the demand that seek to oppose the difficulties that have put for the resettlement of refugees in the United Statesas well as to deny COVID-19 aid funds to illegal students.

One of the proposals was for the county to join a report that Los Angeles and the Public Rights Project are drafting to seek a court order to prevent local and regional officials from banning refugees resettle in their communities.

The other proposal authorizes county attorneys to file or join amicus brief to oppose and challenge federal government rules from President Donald Trump which prohibits illegal students living in the country from receiving aid funds by the coronavirus.

The protests were presented by the supervisor Hilda Solis and the supervisor Sheila Huehl. "Refugees and immigrants deserve to be treated with compassion and dignity. Both populations contribute to our economy and cultural tapestry"Said supervisor Solís.

"By joining these amicus reports, Los Angeles County says 'No' to the Trump administration's efforts to divide Americans by immigration statusKuehl added.
