The Board of Supervisors plans to make changes to the budget to inject more money and avoid layoffs

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors plans review this Tuesday the county budget to raise planned spending for the year 2020-2021 at $ 37.6 billion.

With the measure, county supervisors seek to provide safety and stability to thousands of workers avoiding any dismissal due to lack of funds for at least the next 12 months.

Budget changes include $ 374.6 million for coronavirus testing, tracking and isolation, an additional $ 120 million for the Project Roomkey programas well as funding for the Alternatives to Incarceration Initiative and the county rain fund.

The county had already planned to retire workers early in addition to sending thousands of workers on unpaid leave to achieve a reduction in payroll expenses.

Changes to the budget are partly due to the fact that calculation of estimated county losses in June were not exact, as well as funds from the previous budget that were not used.
