Los Angeles added nearly 2,000 cases of coronavirus Monday through Friday

The authorities of the Los Angeles Department of Public Health shared updated information about the coronavirus pandemic and confirmed 475 new cases.

L.A. County I had 6,360 positive cases on Monday and Friday the figure reached 8,430. In the last 48 hours have been confirmed 900 cases of COVID-19.

The doctor Barbara Ferrer, director of the department, also confirmed 18 deaths in the last 24 hours for a total of 214 because of the disease. Ferrer referred to the mortality rate, "2.9% of infected people have lost their lives", he claimed.

Until now 2,043 patients have been hospitalized at some point due to the virus, representing a 24% of cases. "Of the 2,043 hospitalized at least 20% have needed a respirator"Said Ferrer.

The director of the department also referred to the statistics of tests carried out. "So far we have carried out 45,600 tests, 15% of them being positive"He assured.

Finally he remembered the importance of wear face masks when leaving their homes and maintain social distance, which is already a mandatory requirement issued by Mayor Eric Garcetti.
