The offender, identified as Eric Medina, he stole a Ford truck on April 9 and was arrested, but one day I was already back on the streets thanks to the policy of zero bond implemented by Los Angeles County in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

A few days after the first arrest in early April, the Police again arrested Medina in a stolen Toyota truck and again he was released. A few days later, on April 20, Eric Medina I would have stolen another truck of the same brand.

The last crime committed by Medina was last weekend when he was arrested aboard a stolen 2009 Ford Focus.

The Police department says Medina is part of a much bigger problem related to the changes implemented in the judicial system due to the pandemic.

The L.A. newspaper Times reported that during the first 30 days of the implementation of the zero bail policy for crimes and minor offenses 213 people have been arrested repeatedly. According to the newspaper, at least 23 of them have been arrested three or more times..
