Dennis Gill and his family were on vacation in Oregon. The agent’s youngest son was also in the car, but he survived.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) agent and his 14-year-old daughter died in a traffic accident that took place while the family was on vacation in Oregon.

Dennis Gill was also accompanied by his youngest son, 11, but he survived. Gill’s mother and wife were apparently not in the car at the time of the accident.

Gill began working at LASD in 2000. Since then, according to the police department, he has been assigned various tasks ranging from guarding the North County Correctional Center to patrolling in West Hollywood.

“Today We are saddened to announce the tragic loss of Agent Dennis Gill, who lost his life in a car accident while not on duty. Her 14-year-old daughter also died. We share our deepest condolences ”, wrote the sheriff from Los Angeles, Alex Villanueva, together with a photo of Gill.

“No matter where he went, Dennis was much loved by his peers and respected for the extra duties he took on“The Sheriff’s Department wrote on Facebook. “He received many public congratulations on his diligent performance.”

Dennis was considered a person compassionate, professional, helpful and respectful, which was dedicated to providing a public service with nothing in return. Deputy Gill was a person outstanding with a desire to work and do everything possible for anyone without any doubt ”, the agency highlighted.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon investigates the cause of the accident.
