This week, with Experience New York, we take you to a street in front of which we often pass, but which we never take. It's 15th street, between 9th and 10th Avenue in Meatpacking. We rarely rush there, because we tend to enter directly the Chelsea Market, which runs along it.

This time, do not enter the famous market. It will change you. Go directly to an old boiler room converted into a digital art projection room.

Welcome to Artechouse.

A place dedicated to digital immersion experiences. Nothing to do with virtual reality, which half the time makes you want to vomit. There, we are more in the cinema atmosphere on all the walls, a bit like the Atelier des lumière for those who know.

But unlike the Atelier, which often highlights works of art by famous painters, Artechouse has chosen to work only with 21st century artists. And in particular with Refik Anadol, a media artist gifted Turkish man, who lives in Los Angeles and does research in the Department of Design Media Art at UCLA.

His latest achievement, Hallucination machine asks why do we record everything in our lives? Why so many photos taken from each moment lived? Why these collections of images and these sharing of everything we do?

The exhibition does not provide answers, of course. But Anadol makes us think by immersing ourselves in a world created from millions of photos, which mix to create an amazing collective memory.

Take your tickets in advance. There are sessions every hour.

When you arrive, before going down into the big room, don't miss the screen on the right. Images of New York transform visibly and gracefully mix, as if you were dreaming of these landscapes. It's amazing.

Then go down the stairs and settle in. On the floor, against a wall, on a bench. You choose. And remember to change places to vary the points of view.

You will be tempted to take lots of photos. So, go for it for 10 minutes, but then let yourself go. Soak up these sometimes sweet and poetic images, sometimes more graphic.

The film lasts 30 minutes.

Well, you can watch it twice, moreover, like that, we are sure that you will have a good experience and that you will not be taking pictures every 30 seconds (and that will justify the $ 24 input).

You will also see that the show is in the hall, with the silhouettes of the spectators in motion.

Try to really put yourself down and enjoy it.

It's almost meditative (if you take earplugs 😉

AND THEN WHAT DO WE DO ?

Want salty?

Go to Los Mariscos, on the same sidewalk. A little bit of sunshine that smells of Baja California.

Craving for sweet?

Go to the Swedish bakery Fabrique a few streets to put on a Cardamone roll.

Want to drink?

The Catch roof top is always nice for a little drink.

Now you know what to do this weekend.
