Designer and author of children's books, super-star of little ones and their parents, Hervé Tullet loves nothing so much as having others create. The current crisis gives it a dream opportunity. This Saturday, it offers a giant “virtual workshop”, to allow everyone to draw together and with him, via Zoom and live Facebook.

The operation, called "Art at my window" was born from the collaboration between Hervé Tullet, who has lived in Harlem for more than 4 years, and La Petite Ecole, a private nursery school. "When we had to close the school suddenly, and while we were preparing the rest of the online program, I said to myself: 'We are going to draw all together for a whole week'", says Virgil de Voldère, the school principal. With his regular collaboration with Hervé Tullet, he organized this drawing week around what the author calls “The ideal exhibition”, a concept intended to encourage everyone – schools, schools, families, individuals – to create his own exhibition inspired by his creative process and his techniques.

“It gave us an amazing first week, says Virgil de Voldère. Where everyone was anxious, worried, our children and their families were super happy, it was a celebration. ” This good humor made everyone want to reproduce the experience in a bigger way. And Saturday April 25, at 11:30 am EST (8:30 am PST), Hervé Tullet will be live from his Harlem workshop to draw and have flowers drawn, which everyone will then be encouraged to display at the windows.

Throughout the session, Virgil de Voldère will be “the DJ”, animating the session and making back and forth for the audience between the drawings of the children shared in front of their screen and the work of Hervé Tullet. “The goal is to make an event full of life and full of joy ” he says.

To participate, just log in – everything is free – and prepare:

  • paper: install a large sheet, on the floor or on a wall, or a packet of sheets to use throughout the workshop.
  • paint, markers or markers. Hervé Tullet is known for his passion for using blue, red and yellow, but children can choose their favorite colors.
