Protests in Los Angeles and across the country have mobilized hundreds of thousands of people outraged by the police abuse, racism and discrimination that claimed the life of African-American George Floyd.
And although many people participate in the protests covering their faces, preventive measures to wash hands frequently and maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of the pandemic have been neglected in the face of anger at injustice and civil disobedience.
Los Angeles County reported Wednesday 1, 155 new cases of coronavirus and 46 more deaths, bringing the total to 58,234 cases and 2,489 deaths.
