A must-see event for Florida film buffs, the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) is back from Thursday November 5 to Sunday November 22 for its 35th edition. 18 days of festivities during which will be screened more than 170 independent feature films, documentaries and short films, from around thirty countries, including a vast selection of three colors. Due to a health crisis, the number of places will be limited in the two partner rooms of the event: the Cinema Paradiso and the Savor Cinema. The organizers are also announcing virtual screenings allowing moviegoers to watch certain films from the comfort of their sofa.

Lovers of French seventh art will thus be able to discover “Seize Printemps” (Wednesday November 18 at 7:45 pm and Saturday November 21 at 1:30 pm), the first feature film by young filmmaker Suzanne Lindon, daughter of Sandrine Kiberlain and Vincent Lindon, in which she plays the main role, that of a disenchanted teenager.

Youth will also be honored in “T’as pécho? “(Sunday November 8 at 5:30 pm and Wednesday November 11 at 7:45 pm), a romantic comedy in which several teenagers confront the mysteries of dating, between romance and the discovery of puberty.

In a completely different register, the zany comedy “Énorme” (Saturday November 7th at 3pm and Tuesday November 17th at 7:45 pm), by Sophie Letourneur with Jonathan Cohen and Marina Foïs, talks about a man who commits the unforgivable by making his wife a child in the back.

In “The Perfumes” (Saturday November 7th at 5:15 pm, Sunday November 8th at 1pm and Thursday November 19th at 5:45 pm), the second feature film by Grégory Magne, Emmanuelle Devos and Grégory Montel, who respectively embody a fallen nose with a tough temperament and a divorced father, forge improbable bonds of friendship.

Ludivine Sagnier, for her part, is featured in “La Forêt de mon père” (Sunday November 15 at 3:30 pm and Wednesday November 18 at 3:30 pm), a dramatic film that tells the unconditional love of a girl for her father suffering from mental disorders.

In this program is added “Under the stars of Paris” (Thursday November 12 at 7:45 pm and Friday November 13 at 6:30 pm) by Claus Drexel with Catherine Frot playing a woman in perdition who lives under a bridge and who meets a migrant child with whom she befriends.

The actress Virginie Efira, for her part, gives the answer to Omar Sy in “Police” (Friday November 13 at 8:15 pm, Sunday November 15 at 7:30 pm and Tuesday November 17 at 7:45 pm), a psychological closet written and directed by Anne Fontaine.

François Cluzet and Nicolas Duvauchelle, for their part, are in the cast of “Le Collier rouge” (Monday November 9 at 5pm and Wednesday November 18 at 3:30 pm), the film adaptation of the eponymous novel by Jean-Christophe Rufin which tells the story of a friendship between a soldier and his dog.

In “The Good Wife” (Saturday November 7th at 7:15 pm and Sunday November 18th at 3pm) by Martin Provost, Juliette Binoche slips into the skin of Paulette Van Der Beck, the director of a housewife school who, supported by Gilberte embodied by Yolande Moreau, prepares the students for their future conjugal and domestic destiny in the service of their husbands .

Movie buffs can also have fun with “Éléonore” (Saturday November 7th at 3pm, Sunday November 15th at 7:45 pm and Friday November 20th at 5:45 pm), a comedy directed by Amro Hamzawi in which he stars his sister, the actress and comedian Nora Hamzawi, in the skin of a young woman who struggles to find her voice.

Finally, the documentary “Marcel Duchamp, the art of the possible” (Friday November 13 at 4:30 pm) highlights this French artist, one of the greatest revolutionary figures of his time, who notably hit the headlines in the 1910s by exhibiting a urinal he called “Fountain”.
