The pilot program presented by Mayor Eric Garcetti started in the east of the city and seeks to reduce the risk of two outbreaks: Covid-19 and flu
With the arrival of autumn, the flu season is approaching, which together with the coronavirus, could be a deadly mescal in the most populous county in the country.
Therefore, the city of Los Angeles has stepped up and started offering free flu shots for city residents.
“We are launching a new program together with the USC School of Pharmacy, to give Angelenos free vaccines and protect them against the flu“Said Mayor Eric Garcetti in a message on Twitter when introducing the program.
We’re launching a new pilot program with @USCSchPharmacy to bring free flu shots to Angelenos to help you protect yourself from the flu. This week, they will be available at the East LA YMCA, with more locations coming soon.

Local authorities say the program seeks reduce the risk of having a large number of flu and COVID-19 cases to communities, hospitals and further affecting the economy.
This week, the free vaccination drive will be located at the YMCA East LA facility at exactly 2900 Whittier Boulevard. The mayor stated that very soon there will be new locations to receive the vaccine for free.
So far, Los Angeles County has reported 261,446 positive COVID-19 cases and 6,366 deaths from the disease.
