The former representative of District 12 is the third person to plead guilty to the corruption case on the Los Angeles City Council.

He former councilman for District 12 from the city of Los Angeles, Mitchell Englander, pleaded guilty to corruption in federal court Tuesday morning.
The representative of the San Fernando Valley would have reached a plea agreement with the Prosecutor's Office a few months ago to admit facts and provide information in investigations which would limit his sentence to 36 months.

During his hearing this Tuesday, Englander admitted that he lied to FBI agents during investigations into the provenance of some lavish gifts and cash obtained. on trips to Las Vegas and Palm Springs through some entrepreneurs in southern California.
In addition, the former councilor admitted persuading the same businessman to lie to the FBI about the gifts while the agency was conducting the investigation.
Mitchell Englander was Los Angeles councilman from 2011 to 2018 when he resigned from office amid the scandal.
