With the support of entertainment and sports personalities, they plan to raise funds to help immigrants who did not receive a stimulus check

Characters such as Los Tigres del Norte and actor Luis Gerardo Méndez, joined Fuerza Migrante, a movement that brings together more than 150 immigrant organizations, to launch a $ 1 million fundraising campaign to help undocumented immigrants affected by COVID-19.

"We especially ask companies to support the Mexican and Latino brothers who need our help so much," said actor Luis Gerardo Méndez.

Ricardo Alday of Fuerza Migrante, announced the formation of three projects to support migrants in the US:

  • A project of medical services in Spanish through telemedicine.

"The pandemic crisis highlighted the vulnerability of the immigrant community without access to health insurance, as well as the language barrier, and the need for immediate consultation by a health professional," said Alday.

To provide these services, Fuerza Migrante entered into agreements with a company, so that immigrants can have access in Spanish and at low cost.

  • The second project is the "Force Here We Are" campaign, which is the emergency fund to receive donations and help people who have lost a family member to the coronavirus; as well as single mothers and fathers experiencing financial difficulties.

“We seek to raise a million dollars in eight weeks; and the funds will be managed by COFEM (Council of Mexican Federations), ”said Alday.

COFEM is reported to be a California-based non-profit organization audited by The Huntington Group.

"All donations are tax deductible and will be received in account 3250-9091-4768 in the name of Bank of America COFEM"

Ben Monterroso, a member of Fuerza Migrante, said there are already commitments to give donations, so they hope that the funds will start to flow. "The pandemic has come to uncover the needs, and we need to be united to support the undocumented immigrant community."

  • The third Migrant Hero project is an effort to recognize the work that migrants They carry out essential industries for the benefit of their communities, putting their health at risk.

With these three actions, the binational council of the Fuerza Migrante movement wants to support populations that were not included in federal financial assistance benefits, included in the CARES Act stimulus package.

With these initiatives, Fuerza Migrante seeks for companies, personalities and foundations to donate to the Emergency Fund; and it establishes a series of padlocks to guarantee transparency and accountability.

Los Tigres del Norte, Luis Gerardo Méndez and the family of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo participate as ambassadors. The wrestler Blue Demon Jr., the former Olympic medalist, Daniel Aceves, the former footballers Claudio Suárez and Moisés Muñoz, among other characters from the world of entertainment and sports, also joined.
