The measure comes after the charges against three police officers for falsifying information to include innocents in the list of gang members and they are also investigating 16 others.

This Tuesday the California Department of Justice (DOJ) removed access to information created by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) within the CalGang Database, after accusations of irregularities in the inclusion of innocent people on the list.

California Attorney Xavier Becerra announced today that the California Department of Justice took away access to data created by LAPD in ‘CalGang‘”States a DOJ statement.

The announcement would be made after the decision of the head of the Los Angeles Police Department Michel Moore to permanently withdraw from the program after what an internal audit will demonstrate various irregularities in the use of the database by LAPD staff.

Until now there are 3 officials accused of falsifying information and manipulating the database. Also, 16 other Los Angeles Police officers are under investigation for the same irregularities.

Measure would remove other agencies’ access to that data that was created by the Los Angeles Police.
