Health officials continue to monitor the number of confirmed cases in southern California

Health officials announced that a new case of coronavirus was reported in Los Angeles County, bringing the total number of cases to 20 while the outbreak continues to spread.

In the last 24 hours, six new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Los Angeles County. One of those patients did not have a known source of exposure. There were also three new cases in Long Beach.

The last positive case involved a Los Angeles county resident who returned to LAX from Iran. That person was transported directly from LAX to a medical facility from the detection station. The new positive case has a known source of exposure.

The Los Angeles Unified School District is expected to consider an emergency statement at a Tuesday meeting, although district leaders say there is no evidence that the virus has affected LAUSD schools.
