Next March 8, the United States highlights women during International Women’s Day. French Morning recommends six events to support the work of women in the arts.

Women in the Arts Show in Georgetown

For International Women's Day, Women in the Arts Show celebrates the work of six women artists and entrepreneurs who change the world. Next March 7, at L2 Lounge in Georgetown, photographer Danon Walton, Cameroonian artist Calisma Asafor, portrait painter Oksana Kluchko, painter and designer Mary Cobb, and painter Calli Rae, are on the program for the evening, which begins at 7pm. Museums for women

For March 8, the museum dedicated to works of art created by the female gender opens its doors free of charge from 12pm to 5pm. A festival around black women

BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Fest ™ is an inclusive experience that celebrates black women and girls. Renowned hip-hop musicians Lauryn Hill and Alice Smith, black identity speakers and artists from the Washington area will be brought together for a three-day festival from March 6 to 8 . Discussion on the place of women in art

The “Women Artists” panel launches a discussion on the roles and challenges faced by women. On March 8 at 12pm, join a conversation between Dominican artists Scherezade García and Iliana Emilia García, American landscaper Freya Grand, and independent curators Hilary Pierce Hatfield and Olga Ulloa Herrera. Festival of women filmmakers

The Smithsonian American Art Museum and Eaton DC are holding a two-day film festival that showcases women and artists working outside of Hollywood. On March 6, Eaton DC is hosting an evening of short films featuring innovative local filmmakers. On March 7, the Smithsonian American Art Museum presents an afternoon of short films and conversations with artists. A separate registration is required for each day. Pat Steirn, an American artist at Hirshhorn museum

Abstract artist Pat Steirn is on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art until January 18, 2021. The Hirshhorn hosts Pat Steir's largest painting installation to date. The exhibition covers the entire circular perimeter of the second floor gallery, spreading an impressive color gradient over 120 meters.
